Today, the International Convention Centre Sydney (ICC Sydney), under the management of ASM Global, unveiled an exclusive and groundbreaking audio-visual projection service at the renowned Darling Harbour Theatre.
Event planners now have the opportunity to utilize pre-made immersive visuals offered by ICC Sydney or work directly with the venue’s Audio Visual Services team to create tailored projection content.
Highlighting the venue’s recent event, RESPECT: An ICC Sydney Experience, was a stunning digital animation and projection showcasing Boomalli Aboriginal Artist Jeffrey Samuels’ piece, ‘Gadigal, Acknowledgement Respect,’ accompanied by the sounds of ‘Barani,’ a whale navigating the shimmering waters of Gomora (Cockle Bay).
Geoff Donaghy, CEO of ICC Sydney and Group Director – Convention Centres for ASM Global (APAC), emphasized the venue’s commitment to Reconciliation alongside its Legacy Program partners, the Boomalli Aboriginal Artists Cooperative. He underlined the venue’s efforts to honor the Gadigal people of the Eora Nation, on whose traditional lands and waters the venue is situated, today known as Darling Harbour.
“While this new immersive projection experience has the power to deepen delegates’ connection to the culture and stories of First Nations traditional custodians, the service also meets growing delegate expectations for socially impactful and connected events that are seamlessly integrated with technology as highlighted in our RESPECT: Shaping Events for Success report,” Mr. Donaghy said.
Brian Nash, ICC Sydney’s Director of Audio Visual Services, spoke about the launch as evidence of the in-house Audio Visual team’s expertise, leveraging top-tier technology and equipment. He stressed the importance of innovation at ICC Sydney, aiming to enhance event experiences by integrating engaging content like Samuels’ artwork with traditional acknowledgements and cultural performances, thereby offering a modern connection to First Nations culture.
“Our in house AV Connect Hub team can now also collaborate with clients to create bespoke imagery that supports presentations of their corporate branding or event program content mapped to the theatre’s panels for maximum visual impact,” Mr Nash said.
ICC Sydney has also introduced a suite of immersive projection capabilities, including the ability to map custom content onto the theatre’s unique diamond-shaped acoustic wall panels. This feature transforms the panels into a 50-meter-wide canvas, allowing for the projection of up to 500 square meters of dynamic imagery.
